• In the Thai criminal procedure law, the term refers to a person charged in court with a crime. A person reported to have committed a crime but having not yet been charged in court is called ผู้ต้องหา. A person accused of a wrongdoing may also be called ผู้ถูกกล่าวหา.
• In the Thai legal system, the term is only used in the courts of justice. In the administrative courts, a defending party is called ผู้ถูกฟ้องคดี (pûu-tùuk-fɔ́ɔng-ká-dii). In the Constitutional Court, such a party is known as ผู้ถูกร้อง (pûu-tùuk-rɔ́ɔng).
