Usage[уреди]

This template may be used in "References" sections and on talk pages to cite an online version of Noah Webster and Noah Porter, editors (1913) Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language: The Dictionary Proper being the Authentic Ed. of Webster's International Dictionary of One Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety, Ed. under the Supervision of Noah Porter [...] to which is Now Added a Department of New Words, together with Many Valuable Special Features[1], Springfield, Mass.: G. & C. Merriam Co., OCLC 800618302.

Parameters[уреди]

  • |1= or |entry= – the name of the entry in Webster's Dictionary. If this parameter is not stated, the name of the Wiktionary entry is used.
  • |2= or |url= – this parameter can be used in one of two ways:
    • If the default URL is not linking to the correct webpage, use this parameter to indicate the URL of the Webster's Dictionary webpage to be linked to.
    • If a term in Webster's Dictionary is listed on the page of a main entry rather than being a main entry itself, use |1= or |entry= to indicate the term, and |2= or |url= to indicate the main entry. (See the example below.)
  • |3= or |accessdate= – The date on which Webster's Dictionary website was accessed. Use either of these date formats: 1 January 2017 or January 1, 2017.
  • |4= or |passage= – a passage quoted from Webster's Dictionary.
  • |nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.

Examples[уреди]

Without any parameters
The template will link by default to the name of the entry.
With the name of the entry specified
If you wish, you may indicate the name of the entry.
Linking to a term that appears on the page of a main entry
In Webster's Dictionary, some terms are listed on the pages of main entries, rather than as main entries themselves. For example, the term plume grass appears on the plume page. In this case, you must indicate both the term and the main entry, as shown below.
