Usage[уреди]

This template may be used in Wiktionary entries to format quotations from William Tyndale's 1526 English translation of the New Testament of the Bible, which is part of what is commonly known as the "Tyndale Bible". As the 1526 edition is currently not available online, the template can be used to link to an 1836 reprint of the work at Google Books.

Parameters[уреди]

The template takes the following parameters:

  • |1= or |book=mandatory: the short name of the book of the Bible quoted – see the table below for the full list.
  • |2= or |chapter=mandatory: the chapter number of the book quoted in Arabic numerals. The template will convert the chapter number into Roman numerals.
  • |3= or |verse= – the work was not divided into verses. Use this parameter to specify the verse of the chapter quoted from a modern edition of the New Testament, which will be displayed in brackets. If citing a range of verses, separate the first and last verses of the range with an en dash, like this: |verse=10–11.
  • |folio= – as the work has folios rather than pages, use |folio= to specify the folio number (which is indicated on the recto, or right-hand, page) in lowercase Roman numerals, and if you are quoting the verso (left-hand page) of the folio add |verso=yes.
  • |4= or |page=, or |pages=mandatory in some cases: although the work was not paginated, page numbers were manually added to the version of the work at Google Books. Use this parameter to specify the page number(s) quoted from, which will be displayed in brackets. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:
    • Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this: |pages=110–111.
    • You must also use |pageref= to specify the page number that the template should link to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).
If this parameter is omitted, the template will not link to the online version of the work.
  • |5= or |passage= – the passage quoted from the Bible. For accuracy, please quote the text in the 1836 reprint of the work, not an older or newer version.
  • |brackets= – use |brackets=on to surround a quotation with brackets. This indicates that the quotation either contains a mere mention of a term (for example, "some people find the word manoeuvre hard to spell") rather than an actual use of it (for example, "we need to manoeuvre carefully to avoid causing upset"), or does not provide an actual instance of a term but provides information about related terms.
