English: Ffair Cricieth - Criccieth Fair The fair has reputedly been held here on Y Maes since 1284. It is held annually on 23 May and 29 June, unless these dates fall on a Sunday, in which case it is held the following day.
Presumably in past centuries the fairs were important occasions for local people to buy much needed necessities; nowadays the emphasis is more on cheap run-of-the-mill clothes, toys and hardware.
The fairs are accompanied by a funfair in the car park and, of recent years, a good deal of drunken behaviour at night.
The view here is south along Caernarfon Road, which runs through Y Maes down to Stryd Fawr.
